Outpatient sedation recommendations
These are some guidelines that contain useful information before, during, and after your outpatient sedation
Preoperative fasting
Before
Solid foods low in fat and protein: 6 hours
Formula milk or Cow’s milk: 6 hours
Breast milk: 4 hours
Clear liquids (water, tea, sugar-free beverages, herbal tea, water with aguapanela, pulp-free boxed fruit juices – HIT or TuttiFrutti -, Bon ICE, water ice pops, Gatorade): 1-2 hours
Day of the procedure
During
Take the medications authorized by the anesthesiologist. If you have any doubts about them, please contact us.
Wear comfortable and warm clothing.
You must attend with a companion.
If your procedure is longer than 1 hour, you should remove your contact lenses and tell the anesthesiologist about them.
You do not need to remove nail polish.
If there is any change in your health status, inform your anesthesiologist.
Postoperatorio sedación
After
It is normal to experience mild drowsiness on the first day. Do not schedule any activities for that day. Rest.
Do not drive any vehicle or ride as a passenger on a motorcycle in the first hours after sedation.
Avoid making important transactions or decisions.
SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF ALARM
The signs and symptoms of concern include: headache, nausea, vomiting, prolonged drowsiness (>6 hours), dizziness.
